Today marked the end of day one of the Brave New Voices Youth Poetry competition.  I’m Kamille with All Access Brave New Voices 2009; your inside look behind the scenes of what is going on this year.

Today was the start to something truly powerful.  I have never been in a place with such diversity.  Despite the vast differences, there were  two common bounds that united all that attended, the love of poetry and their ability to “speak with their hearts”.  As a poet myself I was hit with an overwhelming inspiration to keep writing and to keep letting people listen to my art.

As said by Third World Press founder Dr. Haki Madhubuti, “the ability to express and contribute an art form is important  and for those who don’t have voices to motive them to get one”.
